Baiona, Spain | 14 November 2025
FISATUR was proud to take part in the Blue Atlantic Forum (BAF) 2025, held in Baiona, Spain, participating in the session “Commitment to a Sustainable Ocean.” The event brought together policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders from across the Atlantic area to discuss the role of innovation, cooperation, and diversification in shaping a more sustainable blue economy.
Represented by FUNDAMAR, FISATUR was invited as a leading example of how the blue economy can foster sustainability within the maritime and fishing sectors through diversification into tourism. The presentation highlighted the project’s achievements in promoting sustainable fishing-tourism models, preserving maritime heritage, and strengthening the resilience of coastal communities across Portugal, Spain, and France.
Showcasing Innovation from the FISATUR Incubation Programme
During the session, SALMOIRA — one of the initiatives incubated within the FISATUR project — was also invited to share its journey as a success story. The project presented its innovative approach to combining traditional knowledge with new business models, illustrating how innovation and tradition can work together to support local maritime communities.
Strengthening Cooperation for a Sustainable Blue Future
FISATUR’s presence at the Blue Atlantic Forum reaffirmed the project’s commitment to fostering dialogue and collaboration between stakeholders working towards a sustainable ocean. By connecting public authorities, entrepreneurs, and local communities, FISATUR continues to play an active role in ensuring that innovation and tradition go hand in hand in the transition towards a more resilient and inclusive blue economy.
The event served as a valuable opportunity to connect, exchange experiences, and reinforce a shared commitment to the sustainable development of the Atlantic area.
