For 14 unforgettable days, the participants of the Trade Navigation Tour (TNT) experienced the adventure of a lifetime aboard La Peregrina, an ocean-going sailing yacht designed by legendary naval architect German Frers. Originally built for his brother Diego Frers to sail around the world, La Peregrina became a symbol of resilience, craftsmanship, and the spirit of adventure that lies at the heart of the FISATUR project.
A Floating Home, Classroom, and Bridge
La Peregrina is more than just a vessel—it is a floating home, a classroom, and a bridge that connects the core values of sustainability, maritime heritage, and cooperation that define FISATUR. With a history that spans more than 30 Atlantic crossings in the last two decades, La Peregrina is known for being safe, robust, seaworthy, and economical to maintain.
During the TNT, the yacht provided a unique environment where participants could live and work together, sharing ideas, experiences, and perspectives as they sailed from one coastal destination to another. This floating space became the physical embodiment of the project’s values, offering an intimate and immersive way to engage with the blue economy, sustainable tourism, and the deep connection between people, culture, and the ocean.
An Immersive Experience: Living the Rhythm of the Sea
Aboard La Peregrina, participants experienced the rhythm of the sea—feeling the ebb and flow of the tides and witnessing firsthand the challenges and rewards of working as a team on the open water. The boat was not only a mode of transport but a living, breathing space where collaboration and cooperation took on new meaning. The constant interaction between participants, mentors, and the crew created a unique environment that reinforced the importance of teamwork in the pursuit of shared goals, both in the blue economy and in life itself.
More Than a Boat: Bringing Blue Economy Values to Life
Living aboard La Peregrina also allowed participants to explore the deep ties between maritime traditions and sustainable practices. The ship became a platform for learning and exchange, demonstrating how innovation and heritage can complement each other to create sustainable solutions for coastal communities.
As the journey progressed, La Peregrina was not just a vessel; it was a constant reminder of the core values of sustainability, heritage, and collaboration. Participants didn’t just learn about these values—they lived them every day, fostering a deeper appreciation for the ocean, the communities it sustains, and the role of the blue economy in preserving both.
A Truly Unique Experience
The Trade Navigation Tour will be remembered not just for the destinations visited, but for the unique experience of living aboard La Peregrina. It was a journey that went beyond the physical spaces explored—it was about embracing the values that FISATUR represents and creating lasting connections between people, projects, and communities.
