FISATUR was honoured to be presented as a good practice example during the training day “Opportunities for High-Quality, Circular and Sustainable Tourism,” organised by the Asociación de Concellos do Camiño Fisterra-Muxía, in collaboration with the Deputación da Coruña and the Concello de Santa Comba.
Represented by ICSEM, the project contributed to the event by sharing insights on how FISATUR promotes sustainable tourism linked to fisheries, aquaculture, and maritime heritage across the Atlantic region. The session offered an opportunity to highlight the project’s work in supporting diversification in coastal communities and fostering responsible blue tourism models.
A Space for Learning, Exchange and Cooperation
The training day brought together around twenty participants from Santa Comba, Costa da Morte and neighbouring municipalities. The programme addressed key dimensions of contemporary tourism development, including sustainability, circular economy principles, and strategies for strengthening local value chains.
FISATUR’s participation reinforced the relevance of maritime, fishing and aquaculture-based tourism in generating socio-economic value in coastal territories. It also underscored the importance of preserving cultural identity while encouraging innovation and environmental responsibility.
Strengthening Sustainable Blue Tourism in the Atlantic Area
By contributing to this training initiative, FISATUR helped promote a deeper understanding of the opportunities available within the blue economy, emphasising the role of knowledge-sharing and cooperation in advancing sustainable coastal development. The event provided a valuable platform for dialogue and collaboration with local stakeholders, public authorities and community representatives.
FISATUR remains committed to supporting initiatives that enhance the visibility and impact of sustainable tourism practices across the Atlantic Area.
