The first day of the tour was a momentous occasion, with the official opening ceremony led by <strong>Maria Caldeiro<\/strong>, the project coordinator from <strong>FUNDAMAR<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The tour kicked off with a series of engaging activities, beginning with a visit to the <strong>\u201cWomen and the Sea\u201d<\/strong> maritime photography exhibition, which celebrated the role of women in maritime history. Participants also explored <strong>Haliotika \u2013 Cit\u00e9 de la P\u00eache<\/strong>, a unique maritime heritage centre that highlights the region\u2019s fishing industry and sustainable practices. In the afternoon, participants attended a seaweed cooking demonstration by <strong>Scarlette Le Corre<\/strong>, an expert in marine-based gastronomy, offering a hands-on experience of how local marine products can be used in sustainable culinary practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The day concluded with the presentation of <strong>three French FISATUR incubation projects<\/strong>\u2014<strong>Les Croisi\u00e8res Bigoud\u00e8nes<\/strong>, <strong>PesKet<\/strong>, and <strong>Estran\u2019Ordinaire<\/strong>\u2014aboard the <strong>Kersaux boat<\/strong>, as well as a <strong>fishing boat landing observation<\/strong> at the local port, providing a real-time look at the fishing industry in action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Concarneau: Exploring Maritime Tourism and Visitor Experiences<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>18 September<\/strong>, the TNT continued its journey in <strong>Concarneau<\/strong>, where the focus shifted to <strong>maritime tourism<\/strong> and <strong>visitor experiences<\/strong>. A <strong>roundtable discussion<\/strong> titled <em>\u201cBetween Expectations and Reality \u2013 How Are Visitors Transforming Maritime Tourism?\u201d<\/em> was held, providing valuable insights into the evolving role of visitors in shaping the future of maritime tourism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another key session, <strong>\u201cFrom Narrative to Experience: Keys to Designing Sensitive and Memorable Maritime Tourism\u201d<\/strong>, explored how to create authentic and immersive experiences while respecting cultural heritage and traditions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Projects from <strong>Spain<\/strong>, <strong>Portugal<\/strong>, and <strong>France<\/strong>, which participated in FISATUR\u2019s incubation programme, actively contributed to the discussions, sharing their experiences and perspectives on developing tourism that is both sustainable and deeply connected to local maritime culture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Skills Development and Environmental Responsibility in Lorient and \u00c9tel<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The tour then moved to <strong>Lorient<\/strong> and <strong>\u00c9tel<\/strong> on <strong>19 September<\/strong>, with an emphasis on <strong>skills development<\/strong> and <strong>environmental responsibility<\/strong>. <strong>Maison de la Mer<\/strong> and <strong>Petra Maritima<\/strong>, two regional organisations, shared their knowledge and experience in strengthening skills within the maritime tourism sector, particularly in relation to sustainable tourism practices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The day also featured local actors such as <strong>Maison Glaz<\/strong> and <strong>Chemin D\u00e9tourn\u00e9s<\/strong>, who explored how <strong>sustainable tourism <\/strong>can promote <strong>environmental awareness<\/strong> while preserving maritime heritage. A special visit to <strong>Larmor Ostrea<\/strong>, an oyster farm that has diversified into <strong>innovative tourism experiences<\/strong>, offered participants the chance to see how businesses are merging traditional practices with modern, sustainable tourism initiatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Quiberon: Preserving Maritime Heritage and Building Territorial Identity<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>20 September<\/strong>, the TNT reached its final stop in <strong>Quiberon<\/strong>, where the focus was on <strong>preserving maritime heritage <\/strong>and <strong>territorial branding<\/strong>. The visit to <strong>La Belle-Iloise cannery<\/strong> showcased how local food products can be linked to both <strong>heritage preservation<\/strong> and <strong>branding<\/strong> efforts, creating a distinctive identity for the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants also enjoyed a <strong>guided tour of Quiberon<\/strong>, learning about the region&#8217;s efforts to preserve and share its maritime identity through <strong>cultural and tourism initiatives<\/strong>. These initiatives are helping to establish Quiberon as a key player in the growing <strong>blue tourism<\/strong> sector in France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>A Successful Start to the Trade Navigation Tour<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>French stage of the TNT<\/strong> concluded on a high note after four days filled with valuable exchanges, new discoveries, and collaborative discussions across the sectors of <strong>fishing<\/strong>, <strong>aquaculture<\/strong>, <strong>heritage<\/strong>, and <strong>sustainable tourism<\/strong>.
